Releasing the Results of our Gender Equity in the Arts Study
Conducted over the last year, this study paints a bleak picture of the state of gender equality in the theater & entertainment industry at large.
An alarmingly high number of women, trans, and non-binary people have experienced sexual and other violent assaults, discrimination based on medical procedures related to their gender identity, pay inequality, and other forms of discrimination.
About SheNYC Arts
We’re a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that fights for gender equity in the entertainment industry. We focus most of our support on the original creators — playwrights, composers, and producers — to get more women, trans, and non-binary people in these roles that decide which stories get told.

Our Programs Include:

The SheNYC Summer Theater Festival presents 8 full-length plays & musicals in an off-Broadway theater in July & August.

The SheATL Theater Festival produces 4 plays by Georgia-based playwrights each August.

SheLA produces 4-5 full-length plays and musicals at the Zephyr Theatre in the heart of Hollywood each July.
New Pages: The SheNYC Arts Printing Press
We’re so thrilled to announce our newest program: a publishing wing! New Pages will feature the works of SheNYC, LA, and ATL Festival alumni playwrights, in softcover books that you can purchase when you need new material for your scene study classes, auditions, or are looking for plays to license for a production at your local theater.
Proceeds from the book are split between SheNYC and the playwrights in the anthology, so you’re supporting gender equity in the arts AND new playwrights at the same time!
If you’re interested in licensing one of the plays featured in the anthology, email info@shenycarts.org.
